The Clayton Church of Christ ‘Encounter – English Learning’ program assists people and especially those new to Australia, to build essential skills and live well within Australia.
Passionate in wanting to see new-comers to Australia build English language skills, connect with others and settle well in Australia, they will give you a warm and respectful welcome.
The program will not only to improve your English language skills, but also build those conversational skills that are essential for you to live, study, work and make friends in Australia.
Our ‘English Learning’ program covers all the basics of listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. It also incorporates teaching about the Australian culture, customs and way of life. Practical everyday life requirements of how to take public transport, be safe in the water, pay bills, speak at work and much more will enable you to become more independent and able to successfully access important services.
Classes at Pre-Beginner, Beginner and Intermediate levels respect your level of learning and are conducted both onsite and online. A minimal $2 fee each week helps offset some operating costs.
To enquire further, register as a student in the program or serve in teaching, Mandarin to English interpretation during class, provide practical or administrative support or be a much valued, warm conversational friend, email us atencounter@claytonchurch.org.au

Our church-supported Playgroup caters specially for the needs of families and children aged 0-4 years old. Our multicultural community provides a welcoming, safe and structured environment where children are encouraged to learn through interaction and play (eg. social skills, gross and fine motor skills and other general development). Parents, particularly first time mothers or fathers, can receive support for the challenges parenthood brings, and also connect with other families and resources in the community. Our daily programs follow this structure: free play, a craft activity, morning tea, music time and story time. While children are busy playing, parents can relax and connect with other parents over a cup of tea or coffee.
